Chocolate Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies

This recipe was fun to make. They are great for Christmas and they're delicious!! I saw them on the food network website and just had to give them a try.  They take a little longer than other cookies but are so worth it!

Here's what you need:

  • Batch of sugar cookies
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 oz. melted semi sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
Here's how to make them:
  1. Divide your dough in half and chill it for a few minutes.
  2. Add the crushed peppermint to one half  and the yolk and melted chocolate to the other half
  3. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thick
  4. Place the peppermint dough on top of the Chocolate dough and roll into a log. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  5. Cut chilled dough into 1/2 inch slices and place on greased cookie sheet  for 13 minutes at 375 degrees F.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes, transfer to wire rack and let cool completely.
These cookies come out soft and chewy, your whole family will love them.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
